Quando Rondo breaks silence on Lil Durk’s arrest over his cousin’s murder
Lil Durk’s arrest has been the centre of much media attention, and the charges he is facing are extremely serious. Alongside five of his OTF affiliates, Durk faces conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire resulting in death, as well as the use of, carry and discharge of firearms and a machine gun. That said, the emcee who he was allegedly attempting to murder, Quando Rondo, has now responded to the Chicago native’s arrest.
In 2022, while Quando Rondo was in a car with his team in LA, a vehicle pulled up beside him at a gas station, and several shots were fired at him and his team, allegedly by OTF affiliates. His cousin was hit and died from the injuries incurred.
Rondo recently released a new single ‘Life Goes On’ and, while promoting the song, the Atlanta lyricist took to Instagram to talk about forgiveness and the importance of positivity.
The post sent by the rapper reads, “We didn’t get into this music industry to make it just to stay caught up in street shit. We all have families and communities counting on us. It’s time to leave all that behind.”
The strangely optimistic message continued, “We’ve already lost so much, and it’s heavy on my heart to forgive anyone I had issues with in the past. It’s all love from me. Praying for everyone.”
Quando Rondo’s new track hears him speak about wanting to leave the violence and negativity of the streets in the past as he pursues a more positive, respectable lifestyle. In the song, he raps: “Beefing with the same colour on my skin, same colour of the hammer / Young n-ggas ’round here beefing ’bout the colour of a bandana / That’s why I put my flag down, and I picked up a Quran / Because life goes on.”
However, he also mentions his late cousin Saviay’a ‘Lul Pab’ Robinson, rapping, “R.I.P. Pab, my n-gga really died for the guap.” Still, Quando Rondo has remained positive and calm in his response to Lil Durk’s arrest.
Although Durk’s case is a long way from court, so far, prosecutors have alleged that his collective Only the Family (OTF) paid for flights and rental cars in LA with a credit card traceable to the OTF brand. Durk is currently in the hands of US Marshals and is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles to face a trial. Furthermore, there is a possibility he may be handed down the maximum punishment of the Death Penalty if found guilty.
