Prosecutors oppose Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ $50 million bail request

Earlier this week, Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs requested bail ahead of his sentencing on October 3rd. However, prosecutors are urging the judge to deny him.

Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in his eight-week trial, which concluded in July. He was also acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking.

According to AllHipHop, on July 31st, prosecutors opposed his motion to be released from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

In the filing, US Attorney Jay Clayton wrote, “The defendant’s temper and violence were unpredictable. It is ‘impossible’ for the defendant—having repeatedly conceded his propensity for violence at trial—‘to demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence that he poses no danger to any other person or the community.’”

Ahead of a maximum 20-year sentencing, his legal team proposed a $50million bail package involving his residing at his Miami mansion.

“The prosecution and continued incarceration of Sean Combs are unique in the history of the Mann Act,” they wrote. “There has literally never been a case like this one, where a person and his girlfriend arranged for adult men to have consensual sexual relations with the adult long-term girlfriend as part of a demonstrated ‘swingers’ lifestyle and has been prosecuted and incarcerated under the Mann Act.”

Combs was immediately denied bail following his July 2nd verdict; Judge Arun Subramanian was concerned he could be a danger to the public.

“Even if the defendant was solely required to show that he is not a danger to the community, he could not meet that burden,” the judge said. “Prior to trial, the court denied bail, and sees no reason to reverse that now. The defence conceded the defendant’s violence. His violence is depicted in the video of Cassie Ventura.

“The defence admitted, ‘This is a terrible moment, domestic violence is the issue,’ is what she said. It wasn’t only that. There was the London Hotel incident. There was violence after the searches in this case. As to Jane, there was June 2024 – after the searches of Combs’ residences. This evidences a disregard for the law and a propensity for violence.”
