Post Malone announces new album 'Twelve Carat Toothache'

Post Malone has revealed that his new album Twelve Carat Toothache is imminent.

Postie hasn’t released a record since 2019’s Hollywood Bleeding, and now he’s no longer occupied with worrying about chart success. Instead, the singer just wants to make the music he wants to create and isn’t fretting about how many streams it receives on Spotify.

“Trying to shove 20 to 25 songs, it doesn’t work,” he said in a new interview with Billboard about Twelve Carat Toothache. “Talking to the label [it’s like], ‘Oh, if you have less songs, you’re not going to stream as much,’ but the whole thing is that you don’t want to compromise your art and your gut vibe on anything.

“I’ve made a lot of compromises, especially musically, but now I don’t feel like I want to anymore. I don’t need a Number One; that doesn’t matter to me no more, and at a point, it did.”

He also said that it’s become easy for artists to look at the industry “through everything that might happen with the business side”. Post added: “Every time you change your art and your way of thinking for someone else’s, that takes a little piece of yourself off every time. I feel like I’m trying to rebuild.”

The ‘White Iverson’ star said his new record will “speak more to life [and] how I’m feeling at the moment: the ups and downs and the disarray and the bipolar aspect of being an artist in the mainstream”.

While a release date for Twelve Carat Toothache is yet to be revealed, last summer, he did share the lead single ‘One Right Now’ with The Weeknd, and it’s expected to be imminent.
