Pop Smoke’s alleged murderer released from prison
It has been reported that an alleged killer involved in the murder of New York emcee Pop Smoke has been released from prison following the completion of a four-year sentence after pleading guilty to murder.
The individual released was reportedly in a juvenile correctional facility but has been allowed to walk free after his 21st birthday. There has been a severe lack of information, but it is known that one of those involved has completed their sentence.
This follows developments in the case of the murder as an alleged eyewitness recently detailed the murder on social media. However, there are still many unanswered questions.
Although it has been four years since Pop Smoke’s early demise, only one defendant remains in his case as the suspected killer. All of those involved were under the age of 21. Therefore, Corey Walker is also the only adult defendant in this case.
Furthermore, the court delayed his trial due to an inability to settle a plea agreement with prosecutors. In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone magazine, his attorney, Deion Benjamin, unveiled, “Negotiations fell through, but there’s still a possibility we’ll come to an agreement.”
He continued, “A few things need to be ironed out. If they don’t get resolved, we’ll go to trial,” for which jury selection would begin on August 6th. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only strange development in the case.
It is believed that the death of LA lyricist Sirtanky was a retaliation to the murder of Pop Smoke. Sirtanky was reported missing but then washed up in a barrel on the shores of Malibu.
A lot of context is missing from the case. However, his death led to a lot of figures, including Pete Rock and Tony Yayo, stating that the rise of drill in New York was terrible for the city and didn’t produce natural talent.
