Pooh Shiesty hires Drake and Lil Wayne lawyer for new legal case

Pooh Shiesty has hired a high-profile hip-hop lawyer for his new legal case.

Shiesty (real name Lontrell Williams Jr) was arrested last week after being accused of robbing and kidnapping his label boss, Gucci Mane, at gunpoint.

According to Complex, the Memphis rapper has brought Bradford Cohen onto his team as his attorney.

New court documents show that Cohen has joined John Helms, alongside another new lawyer, Saam Zangeneh. The request to be added to his legal team was filed on April 6th.

Cohen is known for representing many rap clients, including Drake, Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, DMX, and others.

In a statement, Cohen said, “We are still evaluating the alleged evidence against Mr Williams Jr at this time. After the bond hearing on Mr Williams Sr and the testimony we reviewed, it appears that there is a significant gap in the statements made by the government and the actual evidence.”

He added, “As such, we have been reviewing those issues in anticipation of Mr William Jr’s bond hearing.”

Cohen previously worked with Shiesty in his federal firearms case, which resulted in a prison sentence before being released in 2025.

During an interview with XXL in 2023, Cohen spoke about the biggest struggles he faces with rapper clients.

“Sometimes it’s a difficult uphill battle because of the outside influences who are around a lot of artists,” he said. “I [also] think it’s difficult because as part of your craft, I’m a firm believer there is some sort of trauma in your past that you call on to make your craft better. I believe that they all have some weight of the world on their shoulders from the past that makes them as good as they are.”
