Playboi Carti releases music video for new single '2024'

Atlanta emcee Playboi Carti has released a new single following a long hiatus that left his fans desperate for fresh music. The 27-year-old (real name Jordan Carter) featured on The Weeknd’s single ‘Popular’ alongside Madonna earlier this year. However, he had released no material himself.

Carti’s fans wondered where the lyricist was as the last project he released was his 2020 body of work, Whole Lotta Red. Following the project, Carter went quiet but recently began taking to Instagram, sharing soundbites of new music but not releasing full tracks.

Earlier this month, Carti, after a series of snippets and clips uploaded to social media, released a music video for his track ‘UR THE MOON (Different Day)’, which came as a surprise unofficial drop. However, following the visual, many of his counterparts expressed excitement about his re-emergence.

The song received shoutouts from Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Nav, Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson, among others. Furthermore, the track was picked up by reputable music publications, including XXL, Pitchfork and many others.

This latest release was produced by Ojivolta, Earlonthebeat, and Kanye West. The Ye production has added to the speculation among fans that Carti will feature on the new Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign album Vultures.

Although Carti is back in a positive way, in February, it was reported that Carti got arrested for assaulting and choking his pregnant girlfriend. However, details surrounding the case were unclear.

The name and release date of Playboi Carti’s upcoming album remains ambiguous and unclear, and his communication with fans is still limited. However, many are just glad to hear new material from the Atlanta rhymer.
