Playboi Carti arrested for strangling his pregnant girlfriend

Jordan Terrell Carter, known professionally as Playboi Carti, has been arrested in Georgia for choking his pregnant girlfriend. According to a report by TMZ, the assault occurred during an argument over a paternity test.

According to Carter’s girlfriend, the American rapper grabbed her by the throat and proceeded to throttle her to the point that she was unable to breathe. “[I]thought she was going to die,” she said.

Back in September, Carti drew criticism for collaborating with A$AP Rocky, who at that time was still navigating a firearm assault case. The rapper pleaded not guilty to the two felony charges he picked up in Los Angeles in 2021, going on to record ‘OUR DE$TINY’ with Carti.

Carter and his girlfriend have been in a relationship for two years and have lived together since July 2022. The rapper’s violent outburst took place in a public setting on December 20th, at which time the unnamed woman was 14 weeks pregnant.

According to the woman, a passerby broke up the altercation, allowing her to flee to the safety of her car. It is believed Carter then pursued her and attacked again, placing his band over her mouth and dragging her from the vehicle. The woman successfully activated the car’s SOS feature, alerting the authorities to her situation. When the police arrived, they noted injuries to her neck, chest and back.

Carter was subsequently arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. In a statement, the rapper’s attorney, Brian Steel, argued that “Mr. Carter was falsely accused. Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
