PARTYNEXTDOOR confirms new album with Drake
PARTYNEXTDOOR has been teasing a collaborative album for some time, and he recently announced that will be alongside his mentor, Drake. The vocalist is one of Drizzy’s most successful artists, and the two have been friends for over 15 years.
Not only was PARTYNEXTDOOR the first singer the Scorpion creator signed to his label, OVO Sound, but he is also, by far, the highest-selling vocalist on the label. Having collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Post Malone and Rihanna, the Toronto native has joined forces with some of the most renowned figures in the music industry.
That said, it appears that his joint project with Drake will be arriving very soon. The album’s announcement in August excited fans, who were told that they could expect it to hit streaming platforms in the fall.
Drake even came out as a surprise guest during a PND show and confirmed that fans will have something to listen to come the fall. However, fall has come and gone, and there has still been no official release date given, but luckily for fans, on November 4th, the singer went on Instagram Live to reveal that he will begin rolling out the project once he gets off tour.
Speaking directly to his followers, PARTYNEXTDOOR explained, “I have one more show on this tour, and then the album is getting finished.” When he first made a statement in August, PND suggested that the project would feature 15 songs.
Aside from PND’s public declaration, fans also heard news from Drake’s close friend OVONoel about the body of work during an appearance he made on The Fry Yiy Show in October.
Speaking to the hosts, OVONoel explained, “You guys know what’s coming for you. Party and Drake have a classic. We trying to put the finishing touches on it.”PARTYNEXTDOOR’ said it was being finalised last month early in the fall which makes the process seem incredibly long.
Still, it does make sense, considering that the vocalist has been on a world tour promoting his last album, PND 4. In fact, it was during this tour, actually, that Drake came out and dropped the bombshell about their plans.
It’s encouraging to know that PARTYNEXTDOOR is getting excited to release this project. Drake has been very public over the last few months, however, he has not been too active in a musical capacity. Recently, the rapper celebrated his birthday and spoke to a Toronto crowd about feeling betrayed last month and he has done a lot of indirect speaking about his battle with Kendrick Lamar.
