The cause of death has been announced for Omen following his death in New York City last year.
The Grammy-winning producer, best known for his work with Drake and Lil Wayne, passed away in his Harlem apartment in September 2025.
According to TMZ, the medical examiner ruled that he died from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with the manner of death determined as natural.
The disease, also known by its abbreviation, ASCVD, is caused by plaque buildup in arteries.
Omen (real name Sidney Brown) was found dead at the age of 49 after he missed a DJ gig at the Barawine venue.
His sister, Nicole Brown, revealed she was surprised about his death, telling NBC News, “He was holistic and healthy. So we don’t know of him being sick, so this is all pretty sudden.”
Omen worked with some of the biggest artists in the industry, with notable songs including Drake’s ‘Shut It Down’, Lil Wayne’s ‘I’m Single’, and Beyoncé’s ‘Mine’. He also produced for the likes of Ludacris, Fabolous, Memphis Bleek, Usher, Action Bronson, and plenty of others.
Born on August 21st, 1976, Omen was a fixture of Barawine for over 10 years, with the venue honouring the producer after the news of his death surfaced.
“It is with great shock and deep sadness we have heard about the passing of our dear friend Omen Sidney Brown,” they wrote in a statement. “Omen was a part of Barawine’s team for over a decade bringing his unique talent to all.”
They continued, “There are not enough words to express our feelings. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, his friends and all who love him. We will never forget you, Omen. Rest in peace.”
