OJ Da Juiceman rushed to the hospital in police custody
Rapper OJ Da Juiceman was arrested earlier this month and suffered a medical emergency while in police custody.
The 44-year-old was reportedly rushed to the hospital on March 21st following his arrest on March 15th.
According to TMZ, OJ’s management team revealed that the hospitalisation was related to diabetes.
“While in custody, OJ suffered a serious medical episode related to his Type 1 diabetes on March 21 and required emergency treatment at Grady Memorial Hospital,” they wrote. “His health and safety should never have been put at risk in this way.”
Juiceman was arrested in Georgia after allegedly pointing a gun at a police officer and was brought into custody.
He was hit with 10 charges, including one felony count of aggravated assault upon a public safety officer, one misdemeanour count of pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, and one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The rapper was accused of tailgating and beeping at a state trooper on I-20 East in Atlanta, before pointing a gun at him and speeding off while driving recklessly around other vehicles.
However, OJ’s manager has denied it was him, claiming that the police know “who actually committed this offence”
In a statement, he said, “OJ has suffered real professional and financial harm, including missed performances and disruptions tied to the release of his latest project, R&B Juice 2, alongside Chester and Zaytoven.”
He continued, “We expect this situation to be corrected – and corrected quickly. If it is not, his management and legal team are fully prepared to take swift and aggressive action to protect his rights, including pursuing all available legal remedies.”
