OJ Da Juiceman arrested for allegedly pointing gun at a police officer
Atlanta rapper OJ Da Juiceman has been arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at a police officer.
The 44-year-old (real name Otis Williams Jr) was brought into custody in Georgia on March 15th.
According to TMZ, he was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault upon a public safety officer, one misdemeanour count of pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another, and one felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
As part of the 10 charges filed against him are several misdemeanour traffic offences.
Legal documents claim that a state trooper was driving into the HOV lane on I-20 East in Atlanta in January when OJ allegedly started tailgating and beeping at him.
The rapper is accused of driving past while pointing a gun at him, before speeding off and driving recklessly around other cars. Then, the officer allegedly caught up with OJ before the rapper pointed a gun at him again and drove off.
An arrest warrant was issued in February after officers identified OJ and his Nissan Altima, leading to his arrest earlier in March.
OJ has requested bond, with his lawyer claiming he isn’t a flight risk as a “well-known Atlanta musician and recording artist.”
In addition to his attorney’s claims, there’s also an affidavit from a woman who claims he wasn’t driving the Nissan Altima. She alleges that OJ rented the car for her but allowed another man to use the rental car.
OJ Da Juiceman released his latest project, R&B Juice 2, a collaboration with Che$$, on March 6th. It served as the follow-up to last year’s OJ Da Juiceman, Pt 2.
