Offset accused of assaulting security guard outside cannabis store
Offset has been sued for assault in Los Angeles. In the lawsuit filed on October 29th, the former Migos rapper (real name Kiari Cephus) has been accused of hitting a man in the face on March 14th, 2025.
Jim Leobardo Sanchez, who works as a security guard outside the cannabis dispensary, MedMen, near Los Angeles International Airport, claims he asked the rapper for ID to enter the shop.
However, his lawyer, Michael T Karikomi, said, “Without legal justification or provocation, defendant Cephus became hostile, verbally confrontational, and physically attacked plaintiff by striking him in the face.”
Karikomi continued, “Several unidentified individuals who were accompanying defendant Cephus then proceeded to grab, push, and further assault and batter plaintiff.”
According to Rolling Stone, Sanchez alleges he suffered “immediate and severe pain,” resulting in him being treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital. He claims he still suffers “persistent headaches, neck pain, and related symptoms” at the time of filing the lawsuit.
Sanchez is asking for monetary damages. The lawsuit added, “Plaintiff suffered physical injuries, emotional distress, incurred medical expenses, suffered lost income and continues to experience pain and discomfort.”
Representatives for the Atlanta rapper didn’t immediately return a request for comment on the assault allegations.
Offset released a surprise mixtape titled Haunted by Fame on October 31st to celebrate Halloween. The project, released via Universal Music Group, includes 11 songs with features from NBA YoungBoy, NoCap, and Lil Dump.
The tape followed his third studio album, Kiari, which only arrived in August. It debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart with guest spots from Gunna, JID, Ty Dolla $ign, Key Glock, YFN Lucci, and others.
