Noname announces ‘Telefone’ 10-year anniversary tour
Noname has announced that she’s going on tour to celebrate her debut mixtape.
July 31st marks 10 years since Telefone was released, which was the project that put the Chicago rapper on the map.
The 34-year-old has revealed that she’s taking the mixtape on the road in August and September.
The North American tour will see her performing in major cities such as Toronto, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and many others.
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Noname reflected on her rise a decade ago alongside other major Chicago artists.
“I hope you were there,” she began. “I hope 10 years ago in some small corner of the world you heard the imagination of young folks from the city of chicago. Telefone was already breathing when I discovered it.”
She continued, “It sat, quietly whispering to me between every blunt rotation outside youmedia, after every conversation with cam about the texture of sound, after I lived along enough to sing about it. Telefone was raised by a community.”
Noname went on to thank those who collaborated on the project, as well as Chance The Rapper, who let her record the project in his studio sessions.
“Thank you everyone who contributed to this little world of mine. Telefone is a place I hope many of us felt welcomed into,” she said. “Cam, Saba, Ravyn Lenae, Joseph Chilliams, Phoelix, Smino, Monte Booker, Akenya, Raury, Xavier Omar, The MIND, Eryn Allen Kane, Elton (and Chance for allowing me to record during his personal sessions when I was broke). I LOVE YOU ALL DEEPLY.”
Since Telefone was released in 2016, Noname has gone on to release two studio albums: Room 25 in 2018 and Sundial in 2023.
