Chicago rapper LUCKI signs to Interscope Records
Chicago rapper LUCKI has officially signed to Interscope Records.
The 30-year-old has remained independent throughout his career but has now moved to a major label.
LUCKI took to his Instagram Stories on June 3rd to share videos of him celebrating his deal with Interscope. In one of the posts, he told his 1.5 million followers, “Thank you Interscope. We 2 the moon.”
Shortly after, the ‘Sunset’ artist shared a post to his burner account, detailing how it feels to sign with the label.
“Thank you to everybody apart of this dream of a process,” he wrote. “I met so many people that helped shape this whole game from behind the scenes to what it is today. People that signed & formed artist & movements that inspired ME to be what I am today. That’s humbling it’s self, I also wanna thank y’all for respecting MY process & being patient with me, letting it be MY process.”
He added, “It’s heavy knowing you probably boutta break a few billionaires heart…knowing how nice they were and not trying to see the other side of ur competitive spirits that we bonded over.”
LUCKI went on to reflect on his last decade in the music industry, stating that he’s always done things his own way.
“14 years running strong and I still ain’t broke a sweat,” he said. “My way or the highway. STILL. But leading with the kindness & respect of a don! It’s all about reason & good business. & when you spot a genius, treat them as such. It’s damn near the laws of universe.”
LUCKI released his latest album, Dr*gs R Bad, on May 15th, which debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 with features from Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, Veeze, Rylo Rodriguez, and Chynna.
All four of his albums, including Flawless Like Me, S*x M*ney Dr*gs, and Gemini!, were released through EMPIRE.
