Nicki Minaj sued by her own lawyers in Los Angeles over alleged unpaid debt

Nicki Minaj is facing a lawsuit from her former lawyers.

Law firm Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP has claimed that the rapper owes them money for work carried out in 2024.

According to TMZ, the new suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging she owes $229,541 in relation to a copyright infringement case they allegedly worked on.

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP claims that Minaj failed to respond to their lawsuit, resulting in entry of a default.

Now, the court must make a decision on whether to enter a default judgment against the rapper at an upcoming hearing, taking place in September.

Minaj was previously sued in March for alleged breach of contract, with the company 24/7 Productions asking for $275,000 in damages.

The lawsuit claimed that Minaj failed to reimburse 24/7 after allegedly providing up-front costs for multiple shows. 24/7 alleged that Nicki’s team simply replied, “We’ll look into this,” when attempting to collect the money.

The complaint, filed this past March, read, “Despite many attempts over the course of nearly two years to ‘chase up’ payment of the 24/7 Invoices, defendants have inexplicably failed to pay any portion.”

It continued, “Plaintiff provided the services to Defendants detailed herein at Ms Minaj’s request. The economic benefit conferred upon Ms Minaj was obtained at Plaintiff’s expense, as Plaintiff has not been compensated for the services (and incurred expenses) that directly enabled the funds to be received by Ms Minaj.”

Minaj released her last album, Pink Friday 2, in December 2023. More recently, she’s been spending her time aligning with President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, making various appearances at political events.
