Nicki Minaj sued for $275,000 over breach of contract
Nicki Minaj has been sued for breach of contract.
24/7 Productions has filed a lawsuit against Nicki and her company, Pink Friday Productions, asking for $275,000 in damages.
According to TMZ, court documents claim that Nicki has failed to reimburse 24/7 after allegedly providing up-front costs for two shows.
The lawsuit was filed in New York on March 23rd, with lawyers claiming the company was “never given a reason” for non-payment.
The company alleges that it worked with Nicki in 2022, providing production services for the MTV Video Music Awards. Then, the rapper allegedly asked for help with concerts at Jingle Ball and her Pink Friday 2 album launch in 2023.
24/7 claims Nicki’s team approved their budgets, with the company providing planning, on-site management, staffing, audio, lighting, rigging, ground transportation, and overall logistics.
They claim to have given Nicki over $275,000 for expenses, which were supposed to be paid back to them. They also allege that Nicki was paid roughly $650,000 for her Jingle Ball performances, but still never settled the bill.
24/7 alleges that when attempting to collect the money, Nicki’s team has simply replied, “We’ll look into this.”
In the complaint, obtained by Billboard, their lawyers wrote, “Despite many attempts over the course of nearly two years to ‘chase up’ payment of the 24/7 Invoices, defendants have inexplicably failed to pay any portion,”
They continued, “Plaintiff provided the services to Defendants detailed herein at Ms Minaj’s request. The economic benefit conferred upon Ms Minaj was obtained at Plaintiff’s expense, as Plaintiff has not been compensated for the services (and incurred expenses) that directly enabled the funds to be received by Ms Minaj.”
