Nicki Minaj says fifth album will arrive "soon"

Nicki Minaj has confirmed that her much-anticipated album is set for release “soon.” During her cover-story interview for i-D, the rapper was asked about her upcoming projects. She proceeded to give a vague estimate of when her fifth studio album might be available. “I’m not gonna say when it’s gonna come out, but the album will be out soon,” she said.

The new album serves as the follow-up to her 2018 studio effort Queen. She recently told Interview Magazine that the success of her chart-topper ‘Super Freaky Girl’, gave her the confidence to fast-track the album. “I wasn’t sure how I was even feeling about having to put out an album this year,” she noted. “But [‘Super Freaky Girl’] happening and people liking it, that made me happy. People have gone through so much recently that they want to have fun. It’ll probably expedite the album to come out this year.”

Released back in August, the single marked Minaj’s first solo effort since 2019 and is set to appear on her as-yet-untitled new album. Minaj has also spoken about her desire to step into film and television, revealing that acting has always been one of her great “passions”. While speaking to Interview, she revealed that she’s been ” speaking to a director about doing something in a movie. I love acting, and I’ll never abandon acting for too long,” she concluded.

Since the release of Queen four years ago, Minaj has released a string of solo and collaborative singles, including 2019’s ‘Megatron’. More recently, she released collaborative tracks such as ‘Blick Blick with Coi Leray, ‘We Go Up’ with Fivio Foreign, as well as ‘Do We Have A Problem?’ and ‘Bussin’ with Lil Baby.
