Nicki Minaj laughs at laid off staff at Atlantic Records

Nicki Minaj finds herself once again at the centre of controversy as she has thrown shade at a number of employees who have been laid off at Atlantic Records this week. She said while mocking them, “UPS are hiring.”

It was reported earlier in the week that Atlantic Music Group was expecting a wave of departures. Around 170 staff members were predicted to be affected by what the company’s CEO, Robert Kynci, called a “New dynamic structure for the label group.”

Unfortunately, a number of employees have been made redundant because of this restriction. It doesn’t seem that Nicki Minaj is overwhelmed with sympathy for these employees, as she has taken to social media to mock those who have been affected. “Dear fired executives & A&R’s: Don’t be mad, UPS is hiring,” she wrote, “Also, feel free to submit your resumes for a job @ #HeavyOnIt,” in reference to her own record label.

Employees at Minaj’s record label will undoubtedly be busy at the moment as she announced earlier this week that she was working on a brand new album called Pink Friday 3. This album comes in lieu of the deluxe version of her record Pink Friday 2.

The album was set to come out on September 13th and feature up to seven tracks. After a number of different delays and problems with production, Minaj decided to axe the album altogether and instead make something brand new. The rapper has confirmed that some of the songs will feature on Pink Friday 3, but a lot of the album will be new tracks.

“The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album,” she said on social media, “Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic. I love you guys so much. You know that. I know you do. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries.”

She took Pink Friday 2 on the road earlier this year, performing the UK and European leg of her Pink Friday 2album. The tour included a set at The O2 and a headline gig at Wireless Festival. She is now on tour in North America as she completes her Gag City Reloaded dates.

Minaj also found herself at the centre of controversy earlier in the week, as she escalated her ongoing beef with Jay-Z by citing some old lyrics. She continues to speak her mind, and it continues to divide opinion.
