New York rapper sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking

New York rapper Mack Mulla (real name James Rodriguez Jr) will spend the next two decades in prison on drug trafficking charges.

US District Judge Robert D. Mariani sentenced Mulla to 242 months behind bars, which equates to 20 years, on November 21st.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Pennsylvania, he was found guilty on nine counts of a superseding indictment charging conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 1.3 kilograms of fentanyl and 8.5 kilograms of marijuana between January 2021 and January 2022.

Despite being from New York City, the 33-year-old was living in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, until his arrest.

The conspiracy involved Mulla running a clothing store called Mulla Fashion in Luzerne County, which included a recording studio. Mulla used the store as a disguise to sell fentanyl and marijuana to users and other street-level drug dealers.

Specifically, in January 2021, Mulla met gang members of MS-13 in Mexico to collect kilograms of fentanyl for distribution.

On January 20th, 2022, officers raided his stash house and found 159 grams of fentanyl, 400 grams of marijuana, two handguns, and a shotgun. They also seized 800 grams of marijuana, 37 grams of fentanyl, a ballistic vest, and a handgun.

Mulla has previously collaborated with many notable rappers, including Jim Jones, Cassidy and Albee Al. He teamed up with the Dipset rapper on ‘4 My Dawgs’ in 2021, while working with Cassidy on ‘Name on It’ in 2017.

His biggest YouTube videos include ‘Whine Fuh Me’ and ‘Do This to Me’ with Kidstar, which each have 72,000 and 54,000 views.

He released his latest album, 4th Quarter, in December 2022 via his Mulla Gang record label.
