Nelly dodges charges in Missouri casino assault case

Nelly has avoided charges in his casino assault case from last year.

The alleged incident took place at the Ameristar Casino in St Charles, Missouri, on July 14th, 2025.

According to TMZ, a hearing was held this week, with court documents showing that both parties reached a plea deal, which resulted in the assault charge being dropped.

However, Nelly was charged with misdemeanour littering over rubbish he threw at the casino, with the rapper agreeing to pay a $750 fine.

Last year, a guard made a call to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, claiming that Nelly shoved him when asking to show his player’s card before entering a section of the casino. From there, he allegedly walked into the area, which was captured on security footage.

The rapper was then charged with misdemeanour assault in September 2025, but denied the allegations against him.

Court documents read, “The security officer stepped in front of [Nelly] to get him to stop and inform him he could not use this entrance without a card. [Nelly] pushed the security officer and entered the gaming floor.”

Speaking on the incident, his representative previously said, “Nelly was stunned to receive a summons from a two-month-old incident where an overzealous guard blocked his path and invaded his space.”

They continued, “Nelly guided him aside with minimal contact and no harm. Management later apologized and welcomed Nelly back [to the casino].”

Nelly released his last album, Heartland, in August 2021, peaking at number 45 on the Billboard 200 chart. It served as his first album in eight years following 2013’s M.O., which featured Future, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, Wiz Khalifa, T.I., 2 Chainz, and more.
