Nas and DJ Premier reveal tracklist for ‘Light-Years’ album
Nas and DJ Premier have confirmed the tracklist for their collaborative album, Light-Years, ahead of its release this month.
Scheduled to arrive on December 12th via Mass Appeal Records, the new project will include 15 tracks, with just one feature from AZ.
Notable song titles include ‘NY State of Mind Pt. 3’ and ‘3rd Childhood’, which are sequels of classic tracks from Illmatic, I Am, and Stillmatic.
Nas shared the tracklist on Instagram, writing in the caption, “5.88 trillion miles away,” referring to the distance light travels in a year.
The rapper-producer duo have collaborated on many songs over the years, including ‘Memory Lane (Sittin’ in da Park)’, ‘Represent’, ‘I Gave You Power’, ‘Nas Is Like’, and ‘Come Get Me’.
Notably, their recent track, ‘Define My Name’, released in April 2024, doesn’t appear on the Light-Years tracklist.
Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, Nas said, “I can’t wait for people to finally hear it. I don’t know about anybody else, but for me and him, it was personally a long time coming for us to do it.”
When asked about their past sessions together, he added, “I’m going to say at least two of those ideas happened on this album. We didn’t get a chance to do ’em when we were talking about ’em, but we finally got a chance to put those recordings together this year.”
Light-Years will serve as Nas’ first album since the Hit-Boy-produced Magic 3 was released in 2023.
