Miami Beach to rescind Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ key to the city

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ primary residence for over a decade has been in the South Florida area of Miami Beach. Known for its luxurious mansions and apartments, it is the home of the super-rich, and the founder of Bad Boy has lived there for a long time.

The city of Miami has carried out multiple ceremony to honour the local resident who they once considered to be a respectable entrepreneur, businessman and philanthropist. The first honour they gave Combs was a local holiday.

Furthermore, in 2016, Miami Beach officials officially declared that October 13th was to be recognised as ‘Sean Combs Day.’ However, in July this year, the city removed that honour from the mogul.

Following this decision, they said in an official statement, “Upon reflection, the Mayor and City Commission have determined that recognising October 13th as ‘Sean Diddy Combs Day’ is no longer in harmony with the city’s values of safety, community well-being, and respect, and wish to rescind the proclamation.”

That said, it has now been reported by TMZ that the local authorities are considering rescinding his key to the city. Diddy, who has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, is currently been detained in Brooklyn ahead of a criminal trial. As public outrage continues to grow, they have faced more pressure to take away Combs’ key, which was awarded during the 2015 Music Conference in the city’s five-star hotel, The Fontainebleau.

Many urged them to rescind the key when they cancelled ‘Sean Combs Day’, but the city did not bend to public opinion. Over the summer, Diddy was denied the key to New York City, his birthplace, and Mayor Eric Adams rescinded the honour. As such, Floridians didn’t understand why Miami Beach were so hesitant.

According to TMZ, Miami Beach officials have now entered final negotiations with Diddy’s team to rescind the honour but are currently preoccupied due to Hurricane Milton’s imminent arrival in Florida.

Although no official report or statement has been released, Diddy will likely see his key to Miami Beach rescinded while he remains behind bars waiting for trial.
