Megan Thee Stallion to perform at Kamala Harris rally

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is set to make an appearance in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 30th in support of likely Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.

Initially, President Biden was set to face off against Republican candidate Donald Trump in the election on November 5th. However, on July 21st, the politician reluctantly announced a change of heart following growing pressure from the Democratic Party over his poll rating and fears over his mental fitness after numerous high-profile errors.

In a statement, Biden said it had been the “greatest honour of my life to serve as your president” but believed he needed to step aside to give his party the best chance of defeating Trump. Biden continued: “While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”

Although no official candidate from the Democratic Party has been selected to replace Biden on the ticket, the outgoing president has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to make the step up. Furthermore, Harris has also received support from Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as the Obama family.

In addition to receiving support from her political party, Harris has also had several prominent musicians, such as pop stars Katy Perry and Ariana Grande, pledge their allegiance to her cause.

As one of the most cherished hip-hop stars to come out of America in recent years, securing the blessing of Megan Thee Stallion is somewhat of a coup for Harris, and should entice the locals to attend to get a glimpse of their hometown hero.

While Megan’s music isn’t overtly political, the two notable figures do share a history, and have supported each other since 2020. When the rapper wrote a highly personal article about domestic violence for The New York Times, Harris responded to the op-ed by writing, “Thank you, Megan Thee Stallion, for using your voice to speak out,” Harris tweeted. “Black women DO deserve better… We’ll continue to show up not just with lip service, but with action.”

Furthermore, Megan attended an event in Washington, D.C., in 2023 which was designed to help support the “economic empowerment of women”. Following the conclusion of the discussion, the rapper shared on image on social media of her alongside Harris.
