Megan Thee Stallion sues YouTuber for allegedly lying about Tory Lanez shooting
Megan Thee Stallion has sued the YouTuber, Gramz, for alleged cyberstalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy. Since the beginning of her legal battle with Tory Lanez, the social media commentator has worked against her and attempted to discredit her case.
The Houston artist has labelled Gramz a “mouthpiece and puppet” who is dedicated to “churning out falsehoods” about her and the 2020 shooting she was a victim of. The lawsuit was filed by Meg’s attorney on October 30th.
Gramz, who is named as Milagro Elizabeth Cooper in the lawsuit, has been accused of producing content to “denigrate, belittle, insult, and spread false statements” about the ‘Savage’ emcee.
Furthermore, Gramz allegedly shared a “deepfake” pornographic video of Megan Thee Stallion, something that a move that Megan’s lawyers say flagrantly violates Florida’s law banning “altered sexual depictions” of real people.
The lyricist’s legal team at the law firm Quinn Emanuel wrote a statement to accompany the lawsuit reading, “Enough is enough. Ms Pete—a victim of violent crime and champion of women’s rights to her millions of fans worldwide—will no longer stand for the defendant’s campaign of harassment.”
Gramz recently took to X to share her response to the lawsuit, explaining that she had “been informed that I’m being sued by Alex Spiro on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion.” Casually telling her followers that she would chat about the allegations being made against her, she wrote, “Of course we’ll chat about it. They threw in the tape, too.” The latter alludes to the alleged “deepfake.”
The new lawsuit filed by Megan Thee Stallion comes only days after a media firestorm of disinformation began concerning a false news story about a court of appeal ruling that Tory Lanez was innocent. The Texan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, gave forewarning about the lawsuit on October 29th, insisting he was going to take legal action over such “nonsense.”
Tory Lanez was detained in December, 2022, after two years of tiring legal proceedings that saw Megan Thee Stallion at the centre of events. In August 2023, he was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison. He has filed an appeal, which remains pending.
This lawsuit against Gramz asserts that the YouTuber was one of many people turning the public against Megan Thee Stallion as she released videos questioning whether the rapper was even shot and claiming she was “caught trying to deceive the courts.” Even this year, the content creator allegedly made the “outlandish claim” that the gun used in the shooting had gone missing.
