Megan Thee Stallion once labelled Drake a “Bitch ass n*gga!”
Houston emcee Megan Thee Stallion has had a crazy journey since her rise to hip-hop stardom in the late 2000s. As she exploded into the mainstream in 2019, she found herself losing her mother and grandmother while still adjusting to fame.
However, in 2020, she found herself enshrouded in controversy when, after a party in Hollywood Hills, she found herself shot in the foot by Canadian rapper and singer Tory Lanez. The incident turned into a huge scandal that saw the former couple end up in a years-long legal battle.
In August 2023, Lanez was sentenced to ten years in federal prison by a judge. The emcee was found to have committed assault with a semiautomatic firearm and was charged with carrying a concealed, loaded, unregistered firearm and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
But despite the seriousness of the case, Drake thought it was okay to comment and, in defence of his Canadian counterpart, decided to comment on the case in his 2022 track ‘Circo Loco’. The song appeared on his album with 21 Savage, Her Loss and heard the Scorpion creator make light of Meg’s shooting.
On the song, he raps, “Shorty say she graduated, she ain’t learn еnough / Play your album, track one, ‘kay, I heard enough.” Here, he references Meg’s graduation from Texas Southern University and her 2020 track ‘Shots Fired’.
Drake continued to take Lanez’s side as he denied that Lanez ever perpetrated any violence against her. Later in the ‘Circo Loco’, the former Young Money star speaks on the shooting directly, rhyming, “This b*** lie ’bout getting shots, but she still a stallion.”
This was during the legal proceedings, and hip-hop didn’t respond well to Drake’s comments. More specifically, Megan Thee Stallion didn’t appreciate him speaking about her in such a nonchalant way and expressed it on social media.
Taking to X to indirectly respond to Drake, Meg wrote, “I know I’m very popular, but y’all gotta stop attaching weak a** conspiracy theories in bars to my name lol n*ggas nor h*es EVER address me or @ me WITH a fact or receipts,. I AM CLOUT BITCH keep sucking my p*ssy.”
She continued, “Stop using my shooting for clout bitch a** n*gga! Since when [the f*ck] is it cool to joke [about] women getting shot! You n*ggas especially RAP N*GGAS ARE LAME! Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a Black woman when she say one of y’all homeboys abused her.”
“And when the [motherf*cking] facts come out, remember all y’all h** a** favourite rappers that stood behind a n*gga that SHOT A FEMALE.” She concluded, “People attack me y’all go up for it, I defend myself now; I’m doing too much. Every time it never ends, and this did NOT happen until I came out and said I got shot.”
Drake never responded to Megan Thee Stallion, but it’s fair to say ever since, they haven’t had a great relationship behind the scenes and have kept a distance from each other.
