Meek Mill tells parents to “block” DJ Akademiks from their kids

DJ Akademiks is one of the most prolific hip-hop commentators and, alongside Joe Budden, one of the biggest voices in hip-hop media. His opinions are extremely divisive, and he regularly maligns artists. However, Philadelphia emcee Meek Mill recently spoke up about the public figure and made some allegations about Akademiks telling parents of young children to check if their kids are following the streamer, as a video recently emerged showing him speaking to an alleged 15-year-old about sex.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Meek Mill wrote, “If you’re a parent, go get ya kids phone and block this man he’s grooming children with a very large platform that ‘kids’ like… also attempts to ruin black families and black success daily ‘VILLAN IN THE VILLAGE.”

DJ Akadamiks was recently involved in an uncomfortable conversation with streamer Nourgxd about his sexuality and whether he’d consider a relationship with Plaqueboymax. During their conversation, Akademiks asked if he would drink a “PBM” juice that tasted like milk.

The raised eyebrows and allegations thrown at DJ Akademiks made him take a defensive stance in a live stream during which he spoke about how he attempts to support younger streamers, exclaiming, “I’ve got my own thing going on!” Ak shouted in the clip below. “The fuck! So when I see this shit–this shit piss me off. Bro, I’m over here fucking with these n***s, supporting them.”

The commentator also emphasised how he never needed to be on streams with Max, Kai Cenat or Adin Ross to find success. He then accused the younger streamers he works with of “kicking his back in” adding, “I get nothing from it. … I support them because I like these guys.”

However, Plaqueboymax insisted that DJ Akademiks should just “take accountability” and apologise, which the streamer ultimately did. In his apology, Akademiks accepted why the commentcaused outrage, stating, “I’ve said this multiple times… Listen, that conversation that people saw in that clip is not supposed to be a normal conversation between anybody who is of age and somebody who is underage.”

Freddie Gibbs even seemingly addressed the allegations against his longtime rival, succinctly calling him a “bitch” on X. DJ Akademiks has been under a lot of scrutiny recently and drew a lot of attention to himself last year when he invited an alleged computer scientist who claimed he worked for Universal Music Group to boost Kendrick Lamar’s track ‘Not Like Us’.
