DJ Akademiks claims Kendrick Lamar’s team was behind the streaming bot leak
There has been a lot of speculation recently concerning the use of bots in the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. The accusations have all been aimed at Lamar following a Twitch stream hosted by DJ Akademiks, during which he invited a guest who confirmed the rapper’s manager had employed him to inflate streams.
Ever since, various people on social media and in the podcasting space have commented on the allegations, with some, like Joe Budden, even suggesting that they knew it before the Akademiks stream.
DJ Akademiks has been extremely close to Drake throughout the debacle. However, he recently confirmed that he found out about the streaming bots after being contacted by Lamar’s team. The DJ and cultural commentator has since insisted that he has connections within that group.
However, DJ Akademiks’ claims are largely unsubstantiated and speculative. The guest on his show who supposedly inflated Lamar’s streaming numbers remained unnamed, making it hard for listeners to verify whether that individual had any connection to Lamar and his manager in reality.
Furthermore, DJ Akademiks has been team Drake since the beginning of the battle, so, too many, it seems dubious that he has now decided to push a narrative concerning bots aimed solely at Kendrick Lamar.
So far, the debate about bots hasn’t been confined to YouTube, Spotify or Twitter, so it is confusing and seems to be the result of obsessive fans trying to send their GOAT to the top. Unless a member of K.Dot or Drake’s team officially comes forward and confirms the use of bots, this issue will remain unsettled.
As far as many are concerned, the battle is over. Despite the fact that Lamar has performed some of his diss tracks live, it has been confirmed that Drake will appear on a few summer hits alongside Camila Cabello. As such, it is clear that both MCs are moving on to their next endeavours.
