Meek Mill’s childhood friend sentenced to eight years in Philadelphia prison
Meek Mill‘s childhood friend has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
29-year-old Salahudin ‘Dean’ Reddy was handed 94 months behind bars for his role in a cargo theft conspiracy.
Not only that, but United States District Chief Judge Wendy Beetlestone also sentenced him to three years of supervised release.
Dean was charged in December 2024 and pleaded guilty to the charges in March 2026, admitting to conspiracy, four counts of theft from an interstate shipment, and one count of theft of government money.
He also pleaded guilty to one count of possession of stolen government money and one count of possession of items from interstate shipment theft.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, prosecutors accused Reddy of working with co-defendants to steal goods moving as parts of interstate shipments on tractor trailers around Philadelphia.
As part of a $1.5 million operation, his crimes included stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of frozen crab legs, $360,000 worth of televisions, and $230,000 worth of US dimes.
According to AllHipHop, Dean was closely affiliated with Meek’s Dreamchasers label; during an interview with DJ Akademiks, he detailed the breakdown of their relationship and claimed he turned against his former associates.
Meek hasn’t released a solo album since October 2021. Expensive Pain debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart with 95,000 units in its first week. He also released a collaborative album with Rick Ross, Too Good to Be True, in 2023.
Last year, he revealed, “I’m independent, so I had to learn this shit on my own. I was getting 13 per cent for, like, 13 years. Now I’m getting 100 per cent of this shit.”
