Lupe Fiasco believes that there are 100s of rappers better than Kendrick Lamar.
The Chicago rapper is respected as one of hip-hop’s best lyricists and isn’t afraid to share his opinion on other MCs.
During a recent appearance on battle rapper Breezy Nice’s YouTube page, KoalaTeaReacts, Lupe claimed he’s a better rapper than him.
“I find it crazy that you can’t even say that you think that you are a better rapper than Kendrick Lamar,” he began. “I’m not talking about album, I’m not talking about making songs, I’m not talking about being an artist.”
He continued, “All the things that I’ve said all these years: He’s a better artist than me, he makes better albums, he has a better team, he has better beat selection, he has better production, right? He has all these better things, right?”
However, he concluded, “When it comes down to lyricism, when it comes down to these lyrics and putting these bar-for-bar-for-bar? No. Everything else? For sure. 100 per cent.”
Lupe went on to say that there are 100s of MCs more superior at rapping, and he’s willing to name them.
“I said it was 100s and I’ll name ’em, and we could list them,” he said. “We gonna just start listing n*ggas and then let’s see how long that list get before we start naming one n*gga with a record deal? As the better rapper? Stop.”
The ‘Kick, Push’ rapper previously claimed that Kendrick wasn’t a “top-tier lyricist,” but later apologised.
“I’ll put it to you like this: K. Dot is not a top-tier lyricist to me and my standards when it comes to punchlines and bars,” he originally wrote on X. “His overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don’t see it.”
