Luigi Mangione and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in same prison

Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs is set to be housed in the same prison as Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The 26-year-old travelled from Pennsylvania to New York City on December 19th to be arraigned on federal murder charges, which could see him face the death penalty if convicted.

Mangione is currently in custody after being charged with two counts of stalking, a firearms offence and murder through the use of a firearm, having already been indicted on state charges of first-degree murder in furtherance of terrorism. He arrived by helicopter in Manhattan, wearing an orange jumpsuit while handcuffed and surrounded by armed guards.

The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is where Combs has been held since September after the Department of Homeland Security raided his homes, and he was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. Combs, who has been denied bail three times, has pled not guilty to the charges against him, with his trial set to begin on May 5th.

Not only are Combs and Mangione in the same prison, but they also share another legal connection. Combs is represented by a lawyer named Marc Agnifilo, the husband of Karen Agnifilo, who represents Mangione. CNN reports that he will work with his wife on the Mangione case.

50-year-old Thompson, the CEO of a major American health insurance company, was shot and killed in Manhattan, New York City, on December 4th. He was murdered outside the New York Hilton Midtown after travelling to the city for an investor’s meeting.

Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, five days after Thompson’s death. He was found with a fake ID and what police called a “ghost gun.” They also found a passport and a handwritten document indicating “motivation and mindset.”

According to the BBC, prosecutors shared evidence in their case against Mangione to a grand jury last week, which included a positive match of his fingerprints with those discovered at the crime scene.

According to New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Mangione arrived in New York City on November 24th, staying in a Manhattan hostel before carrying out the attack against Thompson 10 days later.
