‘Yuck’: the song Logic claimed wasn’t a diss track

Logic issued a public service announcement to those beefing him with ‘Yuck’, a song from his 2018 mixtape Bobby Tarantino II. But according to him, it wasn’t a diss track at all.

On the record, the Maryland rapper dived into the reason why he doesn’t respond to rappers who have an issue with him, claiming he simply lets his success do the talking. He raps on the song, “Talkin’ shit ’bout Logic, I never respond/ I’ll let success talk, ’cause a word of advice: More achievements for yourself and less talk/ Cats beef with Logic, yeah, they prayin’ I respond/ If I ever did, I dead you in this game with no respawn.”

Many believed Logic was sending subliminals to Joyner Lucas due to the pair having issues in the past, but he denied that notion to HardKnockTV.

“It’s not a diss song. If it was a diss song, I’d say somebody’s name… this is probably the closest [I’m] ever going to have,” he said. “I would never do that. It’s not who I am. This is the closest I would ever diss the entire industry that talks shit about me. Every single person in one, that’s it.”

He continued, “I would never focus on one person or one thing or one that because I feel sorry for anyone who would try to beef with me. It’s like, what’s the point? It’s funny to me. Me and my homies, we just clown, like, I don’t even know any of these people.”

Lucas’ issues with Logic began after he believed Logic took longer than expected to hop on a track with himself and Tech N9ne. After hearing Logic’s verse, Lucas wasn’t happy with his performance and called him “corny” during an interview with Billboard.

“I just think he’s a corny guy,” he said. “When Tech N9ne initially gave me the record, I was excited about Logic being on there, but after that, much time went by, and the verse he gave was so disrespectful, I felt like he gave Tech that verse on a count of me being on the record.”

He added, “I felt he was upset I was on the record and gave a wack verse. I think if that was just a Tech N9ne and Logic record, he would’ve never did that. That definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I took that a little bit personal because that was real disrespectful.”

The pair later made peace and collaborated on the song ‘Isis’ in 2019, which appeared on Lucas’ ADHD album, despite Eminem originally being in line to rap over the instrumental.

“Eminem was originally supposed to be on ‘ISIS’,” Lucas wrote about Slim Shady intending to return the favour after featuring on ‘Lucky You’. “I waited a month for his verse, but at the time, he was finishing his album and couldn’t give me a date… So after I made amends with Logic, he invited me over to his house, and I played it for him. He went crazy and knocked it out on the spot. That record will be 2x platinum next year. Lol, crazy, right?”
