Lloyd Banks stakes claim as best rapper alive

Former G-Unit member and New York rapper Lloyd Banks is the latest of many artists who have taken to social media to assert they are the best of all time. The emcee wrote in response to fan tweets claiming he is no longer what he used to be.

However, he still believes he is the best. The original tweet read, “There was a point in time that @Lloydbanks was the greatest rapper walking the earth.” The rapper then questioned the user, asking, “Appreciate that. Who’s the greatest now?”

The user expressed that while Banks is still decent, he was better when G-Unit were on their mixtape run with the backing of 50 Cent. Unfortunately and understandably, the lyricist didn’t accept this.

The 41-year-old then promptly asserted, “Ain’t nobody out rapping me now.” Following this, the New York rapper tweeted: “I just be having fun engaging with the ppl on MY twitter..and when I do.. I’m in the rap blogs [laughing emoji] damn, I hope y’all post my new sh!t that fast!!!! Halloween Havoc IV on the way!!”

Banks definitely had a smash hit with ‘Beamer, Benz or Bentley?’ in 2010 and has had a fairly successful solo career independent from G-unit. However, it has been many years since he has been a relevant figure in hip-hop.

Last month, 50 Cent aimed at his former crewmate, Lloyd Banks, while on his Final Lap tour. Taunting Banks, he took jabs at his and Young Buck’s careers, proclaiming, “They think this is something? Wait ’til they see Lloyd Banks’ tour,” he joked while backstage at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.

Although Banks has insisted he is as good as ever, he will undoubtedly never hit the charts again and, despite his lyrical ability, has not gone down in history as one of the greats.
