LL Cool J says Drake dissing Kendrick Lamar was a “bad choice”
Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud earlier this year gripped hip-hop as fans waited to see which of the two titans would come out on top. However, in a recent interview on HOT 97.0 with TT Torez, rap music legend LL Cool J revealed he thinks Drake made a “bad choice” attempting to diss Kendrick Lamar.
In conversation with Torez, LL spoke about his experience with feuds and unveiled who he believed won the beef. Opening up about the clash, LL stated, “Kendrick won the battle. I mean, come on. That’s obvious. That’s a no-brainer.”
Insisting that, in general, he enjoys Drake’s music, the Radio creator continued, “And listen, I like Drake. I love his music, he’s a cool dude. We don’t know each other, but I like his music. I’m happy for him and everything. But, you know, Kendrick… that might have been a bad choice.”
The Queens artist told Torez how he believes the clash will be remembered in the minds of fans, explaining, “I respect both of them. It was great for Hip Hop culture, don’t get it twisted. Both of their names will be etched in history because of it.”
LL Cool J insisted it will forever be in the hip-hop history books, but many will remember Drake as someone who underperformed, disclosing, “Even us just talking about it now is etching it into history. Both of them are super talented, they both did great. It ain’t like Drake completely and utterly played himself; he just wasn’t quite as good in that particular battle with Kendrick.
Although the ‘Rock The Bells’ legend still respects Drake, he admitted that he cannot deny the incredible performance of Kendrick Lamar, continuing, “[Drake is] a very incredible, talented artist. I like him, but Kendrick did his thing.”
LL Cool J first expressed this sentiment on a podcast with Bootleg Kev on which he said, “I thought it was great for Hip Hop. I thought it was the right thing. I thought they both did well, they held their own.”
However, again, he handed the win to K.Dot, unveiling, “I thought that Kendrick won, but I thought that Drake, by no means did he embarrass himself or have anything to hold his head down about.”
