Lizzo emotionally calls out 'fatphobic' and 'racist' trolls

Lizzo has hit out over her critics, who she has labelled as ‘fatphobic’ and ‘racist’ in an emotional rant on Instagram Live.

The singer has just teamed up with Cardi B for her new single ‘Rumors’ and the barrage of criticism that has been sent her way following the release of the track, which she took to Instagram Live to address. Lizzo left nothing off the table and looked visibly shaken by the horrifying messages she’d been sent on social media.

“It’s fatphobic, it’s racist, and it’s hurtful,” she said.”What I won’t accept is y’all doing this to Black women over and over and over again, especially us big Black girls,” she continued. “When we don’t fit into the box that you want to put us in, you just unleash hatred onto us. It’s not cool. I’m doing this shit for the big Black women in the future who just want to live their lives without being scrutinized or put into boxes.”

Elsewhere during the stream, Lizzo maintained to her fans that she wasn’t “making music for white people.” She clarified to her audience: “I’m not making music for anybody. I’m a Black woman making music. I make Black music, period. I’m not serving anyone but myself. Everyone is invited to a Lizzo show, to a Lizzo song.”

Cardi B leapt out to support her friend, collaborator, and Hustlers co-star on social media. She tweeted: “When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive. When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you. Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”
