Lil Wayne wins lawsuit against former bodyguard over gun claims

Lil Wayne has scored a victory in a lawsuit filed against him by his former bodyguard.

In December 2023, Christian Carlos took legal action against the rapper, claiming he threatened him by pointing a gun at him and punching him in the ear at his home in Hidden Hills, California.

According to Rolling Stone, the judge ordered Carlos to pay Wayne $29,225, as well as his legal fees, on June 10th.

A trial was reportedly set for August, but the judge claimed that Carlos and his attorney didn’t follow orders, leading to the suit being scrapped.

The judge said, “The court is granting terminating sanctions because plaintiff wilfully refused to comply with three discovery orders over nearly ten months, made affirmative misrepresentations to the court about compliance, and has still provided no responses as of April 21, 2026.”

Reacting to the verdict, Wayne’s lawyer, Ashlee Difuntorum, said, “Plaintiff filed this lawsuit seeking money from Mr Carter for plaintiff’s alleged physical and emotional injuries. Mr Carter has denied these allegations from the start and vigorously defended against them.”

She added, “We’re pleased with the outcome and grateful the court held plaintiff accountable for his conduct.”

In his lawsuit, Carlos claimed the alleged assault and battery caused lost wages, medical expenses, and emotional distress.

“Plaintiff suffered severe emotional distress, requiring him to seek mental health treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) stemming directly from this incident,” the suit read.

Wayne is preparing for his 20 Years of Carter Classics Tour later this month, which will see him touring North America until October. His last album, Tha Carter VI, which was his first in five years, was released in June 2025.
