Lil Wayne names his greatest rapper of all time

New Orleans rapper and Young Money founder Lil Wayne is often considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. With that being said, hip hop fans are always curious about who Wayne considers to be the best rapper of all time, and he has finally named who takes his number one spot.

During an interview with Fox Sports on the ‘What’s Wright? With Nick Wright’ podcast, Wayne was asked to name the top five best rappers, and the top spot went to none other than the legendary Missy Elliot. When asked why he declared, “For me, it’s always going to be first, Missy Elliott She’s a huge influence on everything I’ve ever done.”

This is not the first time the rapper (real name Dwayne Carter) has highlighted the impact of Missy’s music on him. Earlier this year, when he sat down with DJ Kahled for his podcast, he revealed that Missy influenced his style, especially with regard to his song ‘Tha Block Is Hot’.

When asked to complete the top five, Carter went on to name Jay-Z, the Notorious B.I.G., Goodie Mob and UGK. Notably, the rapper didn’t include himself on the list as he bashfully declared, “I can’t touch them guys. I would never put myself on my list.”

When Elliot caught wind of the tribute, she quickly took to social media thanking the rapper for his kind words tweeting, “Whenever @LilTunechi says my name in his interviews, Twitter don’t have enough space for me to say my GRATEFULNESS because he is a LEGEND himself who birthed many emcees after him & as a man to acknowledge me as a big influence 4 him I send you love WAYNE.” Evidently grateful, Elliot left it at that.
