Lil Wayne causes confusion with AI diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar

Following the battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake earlier this year, the hip-hop community were keen to see what Lil Wayne would say about the feud. Considering Drake was one of Young Money’s most successful artists, many assumed Weezy would back his former. Still, it wasn’t the battle that caused a rift but the announcement of next year’s Super Bowl Halftime headliner.

In September, Kendrick was announced as the headliner of next year’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans. As it is Lil Wayne’s hometown, many in hip-hop saw this as disrespectful, considering he has been in the game since the late 1990s.

After Kendrick was announced as the headliner, fans took to social media to express their outrage, as Wayne had expressed his desire to play the show multiple times over the years. Fans emphasised that Lil Wayne has been in the game since 1999 and deserves respect for the people he has put on, including Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, and others.

Following the announcement by Roc Nation and the NFL, many were under the impression that Lil Wayne might address the situation in a track aimed at Kendrick Lamar. Furthermore, podcaster Joe Budden even asserted on The Joe Budden Show that Wayne had decided to “hit the booth.”

That said, a new track has surfaced online that many are claiming is an AI-generated diss track from Lil Wayne dissing Kendrick Lamar. Fans are confused as to where it came from and who released it. Multiple fake disses are circling the Internet right now, and Kendrick Lamar’s friend, Hitta J3, highlighted one of them on X, although he didn’t specify which one.

Some, like Joe Budden, are sure that a diss track will arrive soon. However, concerning the tensions between the two, figures such as Snoop Dogg have told people to stop hating and welcome the NFL’s decision. In November, he took to social media, saying, “This is a big event. You should just be honoured that hip-hop is being able to be seen on that platform, for all of us, and not hate on the next man, but be happy.”

He continued, “I didn’t feel like I was supposed to be [at my Super Bowl halftime show] or in demand to be there. People look at everything when they pick the person to perform. Before Jay-Z got control of the Super Bowl, wasn’t no n***as performing. He’s creating a wave of artists that have an opportunity to perform.”

Still, K Dot did mention Lil Wayne on his latest album GNX, and, on the song ‘Wacced Out Murals’, rapped, “Used to bump ‘Tha Carter III,’ I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” Only time will tell if Lil Wayne releases an official diss track.
