Lil Uzi Vert has said they will retire after next album

‘XO Tour Llif3’ artist Lil Uzi Vert has recently confirmed that their next project will be the last as they have lost their passion for music and want to focus on fashion and clothing design.

On December 24th, the Philadelphia rhymer spoke with the hip-hop media outlet TMZ, and during the conversation, they asserted that after this upcoming project, Luv Is Rage 3, they will focus on making women’s clothing.

When asked why they’re retiring aged only 29, the rapper stated, “I want to make music, I love making music, but I don’t really wanna make music like that no more. I want to make like, women’s clothes. I’ve been working on my office in my house.”

Luv Is Rage 3 will be the last in his Luv Is Rage series of albums. The lyricist (real name Symere Woods) received widespread backlash earlier this year following the release of their experimental rap-rock album, The Pink Tape, and this could be the reason why the emcee has decided to quit.

This isn’t the first time Lil Uzi Vert has flirted with the idea of retirement, nor is it the first time a rapper has asserted that they will do so, only to come back. After all, Jay-Z did this in 2003 with his Black Album.

Earlier this year, while on tour, the rapper spoke to the crowd about his retirement plans, exclaiming, “I came to this conclusion not too long ago. I was gonna wait ’til later to say it, but, you know, I’m dropping Luv Is Rage 3, and Luv Is Rage 3 will be my last album.”

He continued, “Relax. It’s okay. After Luv Is Rage 3, I guess I will go on another tour. But after that, I wanna try to live a normal life. Thank you for all your support and thank you for supporting me on my decision. I’ll make sure that I give it my all on Luv Is Rage 3 this time because we gotta keep the legacy going. Thank you.”

Lil Uzi Vert has been extremely polarising thus far. Their projects, in the eyes of many, have declined in quality since he first emerged in 2016, and many have been disappointed by his output. At the same time, they still has a legion of loyal fans, so only time will tell if they really plans on retiring in 2024.
