Lil Timmy T: The rap career of Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet is a renowned and respected actor who has had a compelling career thus far. The 27-year-old performer got his big break as a teen when he starred in the 2012 drama series Homeland, and his status has increased ever since.

However, few know that while he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York, he also tried his hand at emceeing and recorded as an amateur rapper named Lil Timmy, complete with a sideways baseball cap.

Chalamet has credibility as an actor. He has featured in several high-budget films and groundbreaking motion pictures. However, the videos of him as a teenager rapping are always the cause of much hilarity when they begin to circulate on social media.

Earlier this year, Chalamet got cast as Willy Wonka in the forthcoming film Wonka, but as he acquires more fame, it becomes even more comical to the public that the softly-spoken thespian once believed he could pass as an aggressive thug.

It is well-known that Chalamet is a fan of Kid Cudi, and the pair have had several Twitter/X cordial exchanges. The Interstellar star has always shown a deep respect for Cudi and, in 2021, gifted the musician an action figure of his Dune sci-fi character, Paul Atreides, on which he wrote: “To the true master of the Universe.”

The two even performed together in 2019, when Chalamet delivered the spoken word intro to Cudi’s 2009 album Man on the Moon: The End of Day during a show in California.

However, it was just before the release of Cudi’s 2009 project that Chalamet was rolling around town as Lil Timmy. A video of the actor dancing to Soulja Boy’s iconic track ‘Crank That’ was posted, but it was a while later until he released his online freestyle.

The freestyle hears Lil Timmy T introduce himself as “Timmy Tim, the next Slim Shady” with his counterpart, Jiggy G. It’s an uncomfortable yet hilarious watch. Following this, according to Chalamet himself, for a school project, he released a music video entitled ‘Statistics.’

However, nothing tops his ‘Rising Stars 2012’ performance at LaGuardia, during which he even performs Nicki Minaj’s 2010 single ‘Roman’s Revenge’ with a wig on. It seems like Lil Timmy T was a hit in his high school. However, as far as nationwide support, he was evidently more suited to acting. You can watch Chalamet’s online freestyle and music video below.
