
Coroner’s report reveals details of Jacksonville rapper Lil Poppa’s death
Lil Poppa died in February, and now the coroner’s report has revealed details of the rapper‘s death.
Poppa passed away in Georgia on February 18th at the age of 25, with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office pronouncing him dead at 11:23am.
According to TMZ, Poppa died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left side of his head. He was in the passenger’s seat at the time, with a toxicology report pending.
Hapeville Chief of Police Bruce Hedley previously stated that Poppa was in a single-car accident on Interstate 85 south of Hapeville, Georgia. His manager came to meet him, but he shot himself.
His funeral took place in Jacksonville, Florida, at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, on March 7th.
Poppa’s longtime girlfriend, Toie Roberts, who is also the mother of his child, penned an emotional message following his death.
“MYKEL..what’s understood don’t ever have to explained especially to the internet!” she began. “nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all. our reality changing before my eyes.. i’ve been wondering how could you be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.. for us to go on without you in life.”
She continued, “But deep down, i know you didn’t mean to & you didn’t mean to hurt us. ESPECIALLY NOT KOFI.. at least NOT LIKE THAT!!! how tf you leave without saying you’ll see us later?! i really don’t understand & i feel played about it all but i know you understand why.”
Popped signed a deal with Yo Gotti’s CMG label in 2022. His last album, Almost Normal Again, was released through Interscope Records in August 2025.
