Lil Nas X provides update after facial paralysis hospitalisation

Lil Nas X was hospitalised earlier this week after suffering from facial paralysis, resulting in him losing control of the right side of his face. The ‘Old Town Road’ artist has provided an update on his condition following the health scare.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on April 16th, he revealed that he had been using chewing gum to build strength in his face. He said that, overall, he was doing much better after being unable to smile fully.

“OK so… I’ve been chewing a lot so I can get this muscle stronger,” he told his followers in a video message. “It’s much better, it’s much better! My eye still, still has to play catch up, but like, but like I can give a genuine smile, so that’s good!”

Nas first revealed his facial paralysis in an Instagram video on April 14th, showing fans that he couldn’t move one side of his face.

“When I smile, this is me doing a full smile right now, by the way… it’s like, what the fuck,” he said. “I can’t even laugh right, bro. What the fuck! Oh my God. So… oh my God, bro. So… yeah.” In the caption, he wrote, “Soooo lost control of the right side of my face.”

However, he told fans not to be concerned about the incident on his Instagram Stories. “Guys I am OK!!” he said. “Stop being sad for me. Shake ur ass for me instead. Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”

The hospitalisation came shortly after Nas released his new EP, Days Before Dreamboy, on March 28th. His second album, Dreamboy, is set to arrive in 2025.
