Lil Nas X teases upcoming self-directed music video

Atlanta emcee Lil Nas X recently unveiled that he will release a self-directed music video as he prepares for a “new era” in his music career. This arrives as the ‘Old Town Road’ lyricist hints at a new album.

Lil Nas X (real name Montero Hill) recently took to Twitter/X to let his followers know that his directorial debut will arrive sometime in the new year. Sharing the exciting news, Hill posted, “Wrote AND directed my own music video for the first time. Excited for y’all to see. It’s the best one yet!”

The ‘Pannini’ rapper followed the tweet by posting a church emoji and a series of dove emojis. This has left fans speculating about the theme of the upcoming visuals and track.

This latest tweet isn’t the first time Hill has suggested that he will be releasing singles for an upcoming album, which will serve as a follow-up to his 2021 debut project ‘Montero’.

Earlier this year, when the ‘Industry Baby’ musician attended the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to premiere his documentary Long Live Montero, the country-rap star told fans he would return to the festival after putting new music out.

Speaking to the magazine Exclaim! after the event, Hill stated, “I want to drop this good-ass, fire-ass music first, and then I’m gonna be back out there. [Toronto]”

When asked in a Q&A at TIFF what style of music he will be releasing, Hill replied, “Hear me out, I want to do some folk music. What else do I want to do? Like Brazilian funk. I could easily just release music, but I have to build moments around this shit. I have to go bigger than before.”

At the TIFF event in September, Hill’s documentary premiere the event was delayed due to a bomb threat being made when he arrived at the screening. It is still unclear the name and release date of Hill’s upcoming project.
