Lil Nas X requests diversion in felony battery case

Lil Nas X is seeking a diversion in his felony battery case from last year.

The ‘Old Town Road’ rapper was arrested in Los Angeles in August 2025 after being spotted naked in public, leading to an incident with law enforcement.

He was charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

According to Rolling Stone, his lawyer, Christy O’Connor, asked the judge for a delay in proceedings as Nas appeared in court in Van Nuys, California, on March 12th.

The case will return to court on April 6th for O’Connor to file a motion to transfer his case into an unspecified diversion program.

After the hearing, Nas took a moment to speak to reporters and share a message with his supporters.

“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much,” he said. “I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys – mwah. You guys, have a good day.”

In September 2025, Nas entered rehab, with the judge allowing him to miss his pre-trial hearing since he was receiving treatment.

His attorney, Drew Findling, said at the time, “You heard the ‘treatment’ word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being.”

Findling continued, “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. And we’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, and he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s going to get over.”
