Lil Nas X breaks silence after arrest and hospitalisation

Lil Nas X has spoken out for the first time since he was arrested and hospitalised. The Atlanta artist reportedly charged at a police officer following a suspected overdose last week.

Nas was spotted walking around Los Angeles in his underwear when police responded to a call of someone being nude in public.

When officers arrived, he allegedly assaulted them and was taken into custody. He was charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

Nas pleaded not guilty and faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the charges against him. He posted $75,000 bail and was released from Van Nuys jail in the San Fernando Valley on August 25th.

Taking to Instagram this week, Nas broke his silence by revealing how scared he was about the incident, but assured his 10 million followers that he would be fine.

“Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all,” he said. “That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl’s gonna be all right.”

Following his arrest, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J Hochman stated, “Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”

In response to the allegations, Nas’ attorney, Christy O’Connor, told the judge, “Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life. Nothing like this has ever happened to him.”

Lil Nas X released his Days Before Dreamboy EP in March. It included the singles ‘Hotbox’ and ‘Light Again!’, which both have 11 million Spotify streams.
