Cause of death confirmed for Lil Jon’s son

The son of Lil Jon passed away last month, and his cause of death has now been revealed.

DJ Young Slade (real name Nathan Smith) was found dead on February 6th after he was reported missing in Georgia.

Police found his body after expanding their search to a pond in Mayfield Park near his home.

According to People, the Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled his cause of death “drowning in the setting of psilocybin use.”

The autopsy report determined it to be an accident. The drug found in his blood is described as “a pharmacologically active hallucinogenic compound of psilocybin – hallucinogenic mushrooms.”

His body was recovered from a retention pond, with the report confirming that there was water-immersion wrinkling in his hands.

On February 3rd, the 27-year-old reportedly ran out of his house on foot. He was without a phone, with family saying he “may be disoriented and in need of assistance.”

Lil Jon paid tribute to his son following his death, recognising his kindness and the love he had for those in his life.

“I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith,” he said. “His mother [Nicole] and I are devastated. Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet. He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted – he loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest.”

Jon continued, “He was an amazingly talented young man; a music producer, an artist and engineer, and graduate of NYU. We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and in our last times together we’re comforted in knowing that we expressed that very sentiment to him.”
