Lil Durk gives an update on his mental state from prison

Lil Durk has provided an update on his mental state from behind bars.

The Chicago rapper is currently in jail while he waits for his murder-for-hire trial to begin later this year.

On March 31st, Durk took to Instagram to share a minute-long voice call from prison, giving fans an update on how he’s doing.

“I just want to give y’all an update on my mental, my mind state,” he began. “I’ve just been reading these books, working on my patience.”

He went on to reveal that he’s been reading Pawns in the Game by William Guy Carr, as well as work from Fred Hampton, Elaine Brown, and Huey P Newton. Durk is seeking inspiration from “revolutionaries” who stood for something.

“It’s just been sitting on my heart lately to save the generation, bro,” he said. “Save these kids. I’m just tired of being a pawn for the culture. Entertaining and being ignorant. I want to change the world around to being positive.”

He added, “We got to be their heroes. They got to look up to us in a positive way. A lot of people ain’t gon’ like it.”

Durk is accused of conspiring with others to murder Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab. He’s incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, with his trial set to begin on August 20th.

He’s charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.

The rapper is also charged with one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
