Lil Durk judge to allow threatening DM in murder-for-hire trial
A judge has ruled that an alleged threat from Lil Durk to a rival will be allowed to appear in his upcoming murder-for-hire trial.
The Chicago rapper is currently counting down the days until his trial starts on April 21st, having been pushed back on several occasions.
Durk is accused of conspiring with others to kill Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab.
According to AllHipHop, a federal judge decided last week that an alleged direct message from Durk will be shown to the jury.
A newly unsealed ruling revealed that prosecutors will be able to use a DM where Durk allegedly told a rival, “I got them hunting you up ads better have 3 ski mask on.”
The government claims that the message from April 2023 shows Durk bragging about having members of his Only the Family crew “hunting” an enemy. It’s claimed he also sent a screenshot of the threat to an alleged co-conspirator to show his control.
Durk is facing many charges, including one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.
He’s also charged with one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
The ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ artist faces up to life in prison if found guilty of the charges against him.
Despite the DM being permitted in court, the judge recently banned lyrics from his 2022 song ‘Hanging with Wolves’, in which he raps, “I’m the type to hop on a flight with a warrant, you gotta catch me.”
