Lil Durk claims the gangster life is at odds with being a Muslim

Of late, rapper Lil Durk has been trying to alter the way he is perceived by the public and his fans. Now, he has made a number of comments about the Muslim religion and why he believes it doesn’t align with the typical gang lifestyle that is often associated with the hip-hop genre.

On Instagram, Durk posted a photo of himself looking down at his shoes and wearing a Louis Vuitton baseball cap. The caption for the post read, “Don’t label me nothing outside of A MAN A FATHER and A 1000% Muslim – THE VOICE.”

Shortly after the post was made, Durk again took to Instagram to explain his initial comments. The message arrived on the rapper’s stories and began, “I don’t gangbang I’m a Muslim. Basically what I was saying on my post in so many words you can’t do both ima be the one who say it.”

“So if you follow me as a brother, a friend, an icon, follow me to my new chapter of life,” Durk added. “When I make music I rap what I seen and been through not telling you to go do it HUGE difference the music won’t change but my life goals will.”

Becoming a father seems to have had a big effect on Durk, and alongside the Muslim and gangster lifestyles, fatherhood seems to be a facet that he thinks about a lot. The rapper had recently claimed that he’s “happy” getting through life with his son, which is opposed to his 2022 7220song ‘Unhappy Father’s Day’.

On Father’s Day this year, Durk said he wanted the track deleted from his discography because he would always be happy spending the annual day with his children.

In other recent Lil Durk news, earlier this year, Kanye West reached out to his fellow Chicago native. Durk had been wrapped up in a number of feuds at the start of the year, and took himself off social media at the time to get away from it all.

West and Durk have made a number of tracks together in the past, and West was keen to work with Durk once again, writing on social media, “Tell Durk activate his Instagram it’s time to drop.”

It looks like since that point, Durk has indeed reactivated his Instagram, although he’s mostly been using it to write about how being a Muslim doesn’t seem to mix with the gangster lifestyle closely associated with the rap game.
