Lil Durk suffers eye injury after on-stage blast at Lollapalooza

Lil Durk has confirmed he suffered an eye injury due to on-stage pyrotechnics at Lollapalooza. A performance spread on Instagram on Saturday showed Lil Durk performing ‘Back in Blood’ at the Chicago leg of Lollapalooza when disaster struck.

Seemingly, two pyrotechnics ignite in front of him as he’s walking across the stage, and the rapper is then caught by a smoke cloud.

In the footage, Durk looks disorientated but manages to pull his T-shirt up to wipe his eyes. However, he somehow managed to carry on and erupted into ‘Who Want Smoke??’. Elsewhere during the performance, an audience member tried to throw a bottle of water at him, but, unlike Kid Cudi, he caught it.

Durk has since confirmed in an Instagram post that he plans to take some time away from touring to focus on his health and recovery. Alongside a photo of him wearing an eye patch, he wrote: “Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health. I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all 💙.”

Durkie’s next scheduled appearance is on August 13th in Boston, and it remains to be confirmed whether the show will be postponed until the rapper has fully recovered.
