Lil Baby confirms a joint album with Young Thug is “most definitely” happening
Following his release from jail in October, Young Thug made a surprise shoutout to the legendary QC signee Lil Baby in only his second post since getting released from Fulton County prison, and now, it appears music is on the way.
Looking to find an artist who could help him create one of the biggest comeback hits of all time, Young Thug took to X and wrote, “Wham, let’s drop one on these rats, Peter.” The post was directed at his Atlanta counterpart, and although he didn’t tag him publicly, the emcee could easily read between the lines.
Lil Baby was one of the first MCs to welcome Thug back to the game, writing, “I missed you mf!!!! Welcome home my brudda! Thank God you able to get back to your fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack! #whatwhamsaysgoes.”
It will be one of Thugger’s first collaborations since his acquittal, and fans are understandably excited by the prospect. However, Lil Baby and the YSL rapper have collaborated on numerous occasions. From ‘Section 8’ and ‘Right Now’ to ‘We Should’ and ‘Never Hating’, the pair are a dynamic duo. Still, on January 15th, Lil Baby updated fans and told them that a joint album is “most definitely” in the works.
During an interview with Complex, the My Turn creator spoke about what happened shortly after Yung Thug’s acquittal, revealing, “We probably locked in the studio about 10 days after that!” He continued, “We got tons of songs. Just that one on WHAM, though. I could have done more.”
Speaking about how quickly he and Young Thug connected, Baby added, “I’m the first person to have a Young Thug verse since he’s been out. So, I didn’t want to just overdo him anyway!” The track ‘Dum, Dumb, and Dumber’ which featured on Lil Baby’s 2025 album, WHAM, was his first track alongside Young Thug released this year, and he told Complex that it wasn’t meant to appear on the album but was too good, stating, “That motherf**ker was so hard, and my verse is first. I’m like, ‘Man, I’m putting this on the album,’ and Thug and Future were like, ‘Go ahead.’”
Concerning Future, Lil Baby disappointed fans. During his most recent interview, he admitted that their joint album would probably be shelved, as he wants a three-way behemoth project. Still, he gave both Thugger and Future credit for some of his musical excellence, concluding, “Those are two of the main people I look up to in the rap game. Being able to spar with them has sharpened me up a whole lot.”
